Road Tax is changing 2020
Beat The Road Tax Rise?
From April 1st 2020, road tax (or Vehicle Excise Duty - VED) is changing as part of new emissions and fuel consumption testing called WLTP. Find out what this means for cars in the Mitsubishi range.
?
WHAT IS CHANGING?
A new testing procedure, designed to more accurately reflect real world driving comes into effect from April 1st 2020.
The Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) replaces the old NEDC process that has been in place since the 1990s and is changing the emissions and fuel consumption figures on most cars.
?
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR NEW CAR BUYERS
The effect of the new testing procedure is that most conventional cars will be more expensive to tax from April 1st 2020.
Lower emissions vehicles like plug-in hyrbids and electric cars will not see a tax rise however, and cars that emit less that 50 g/km, like our own Outlander PHEV, paying £0 road tax.
| CO2 NEDC | CO2 WTLP | VED rise from 1st April 2020 |
Outlander PHEV | 40 | 46 | £0 |
Oulander Petrol | 169 | 196 | £1,280 |
