Do I Still Need To MOT My Vehicle During COVID-19?
The Department for Transport has stated that MOTs for cars, motorcycles and light vans are still necessary during the current Coronavirus crisis.
There are currently no exemptions for cars, motorcycles and light vans. This means that the need to have a valid MOT has NOT currently been suspended.
After the statement from the Prime Minister last night, (23/03/2020), garages that are carrying out MOTs are listed as an exempt business. This is due to garages being considered as an 'essential service', ensuring that vehicles on the road remain safe.
This means that if your MOT has run out, you cannot legally drive your car
However, the decision to keep MOT testing in place remains over review.
Here at Richard Lawson Mitsubishi we car about the safety of our customers. We ask all of our customers to stay safe and keep updated with Government Policies during these uncertain times.
