Subaru BRZ - first official images

This is the first official pic of the Subaru BRZ coupe, two weeks ahead of the car’s unveiling at the LA Show in mid-November. Still billed as a concept, the LA car is really the production car, but revealed without an interior.

The final, final production version of the BRZ will be subject to a later launch in December at the Tokyo show, making the lightweight rear-drive two-seater the most launched car in recent history.

This pic reveals a few styling differences between the Subaru BRZ and its Toyota FT-86 twin, notably a boxier-looking rear haunch, defined by a crisp styling line over the rear wheel arch, where the Toyota uses flowing sheet metal.

The Subaru's rear lights feature more aggressive square-edged styling where Toyota uses curvier shapes, also more clearly distinguished by clear lenses. And it gets quad exhaust pipes on the Subura, compared with the pair in the Toyota.

Subaru UK has also recently confirmed that the BRZ — short for Boxer, engine, Rear-drive, Zenith — will come to the UK next spring.
