LAURA GOES THE EXTRA MILE FOR ST GEORGE’S HOSPITAL

Our Service Advisor at our Dundee dealership is to take part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival to raise funds for the hospital that saved the life of a family friend.

Laura Cranfield, who has worked for us for four years, will complete the Festival’s 10k in aid of St George’s Hospital in London. Laura was inspired to take up running and help the hospital after its doctors and nurses treated her close friend, Elena Devon, for potentially fatal blood clots.

To ready herself for the demanding event in May, which will hopefully see her raise hundreds of pounds for St George’s, Laura has been training with a running group named ‘Tan’s Fitness’. The group consists entirely of new runners who are all participating in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival with the goal of raising as much money as possible for their respective charities.

Having never run before, Laura, 29, is now at the point where she can run a 5k in 35 minutes. Witnessing Elena make a full recovery and even go on to land her dream as an air hostess with British Airways, plus seeing how she has planned her own race night in March in aid St George’s Hospital, has spurred Laura on even further.

Laura said: “When I said I was going to do the run my colleagues nearly fell off their chairs! I’ve never done anything like it before or even had an interest in running, but after Elena fell ill and seeing how St George’s Hospital looked after her, I wanted to give something back to them and do something which was out of my comfort zone. Especially as with their help she has now gone on to land her dream job as an air hostess with British Airways.

“It’s been really hard work but with the help of my running group I’m definitely getting there and building up my fitness. Without their support and that of Tanya, our personal trainer, I really couldn’t do it. After getting over the shock of me doing the run, everyone at Richard Lawson Mitsubishi has been fantastic and I’d like to thank them and our customers for all their support.”
